Castoro Cellars
Whale Rock Vineyard Reserve Charbono
Purple-red, moderately extracted pigment. Cherry, vanilla and mint notes in nose. Tutti frutti flavor initially, later, candied cherry, black currant, mint and black pepper flavors. Moderate skin and seed tannins. Good acidity, restrained ethanol. For a traditional California Charbono (or Argentinian Bonarda for that matter), I rather enjoyed this. Nothing fancy, just a solid red.
