Purple-red, moderate pigment extraction, very good clarity. Hydrogen sulfide on initial pour but blows off quickly, red fruit (cherry) and tar paper notes in nose. (If you’ve ever done roofing you’ll know that smell) with hints of spearmint and blue fruit. Red fruit jammy flavors, moderate skin astringency and a lot of muddy tannins. Needs time to open... 24 hours later, red fruit and dried tangerine peel flavors dominate; good acid, but not that fruity and a bit flat. Perhaps this is past peak, or has too little alcohol - not sure

Oct 29th, 2020Ruby red, moderate pigment extraction. Plum, cherry and tangerine peel aromas. Cherry and plum flavors with some barrel smoke, tangerine and moderate skin and seed tannins on finish. Needs time for tannins to settle, maybe 90 minutes.
