Winner, blind tasting at winery, best red blend of vintage by David Sailer. 35/25/25/15 blend of Barbera, Syrah, Tannat and Petit Sirah. Dense purple red in color, highly extracted pigment. Red fruit, mint and white pepper notes in nose. Smooth rounded mouthfeel with cherry, raspberry flavor, some peppery seed tannins in finish, good acidity, balanced, some skin astringency as well. Three hours later, cherry flavor with length and an undertone of cola and barrel spice emerges. Above average red blend, flavorful, if you have the patience to decant it

Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Malbec, and Syrah, this blend never quite pulls its disparate pieces into a synergized whole.
