I consumed my stocks of this dozen way too soon. I had the first bottle 209 weeks ago and now only have 1 left which I will leave until 2027 when 10 years old. Currently stacks of citric acid - lemon and lime. A whiff of Granny Smith Apple. Rob Diletti also makes the Riesling for his near neighbour Dukes which win awards left right and centre - 99 points from Halliday for the Dukes.

I looove my Great Southern Rieslings which is why I was super excited to tuck into this kindly gifted sample bottle from Castle Rock Estate (thank you!).

It’s a 2021 Porongurup Skywalk Riesling which retails for approximately $20. Definitely food friendly and also cellar worthy.

In the glass it’s a hay like colour with plentiful lemon-lime citrus characteristics, notes of apricot, musk sticks and minerality. In the mouth it’s fresh, juicy and crisp. A fantastic aperitif wine and it’s also so Asian cuisine justice.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Tasted blind, presented by Sue Bell. I picked Riesling, Australian and missed Porongurups WA. A brilliant Riesling made by Rob Diletti at Castle Rock WA. Lovely aromatics of Musk and Bath Talc. At 5 years the acid had settled and the citrus was going towards stone fruit. Really enjoyed this.

At Castle Rock Estate Cellar Door having a private tasting with Owner and Winemaker Rob Diletti. This 2019 Riesling had the classic Lime juice Talc and Slate aromas of top quality Porongurup Riesling. Rob also makes the wine for neighbouring Dukes who just received 98 points for their 2019 Riesling from James Halliday. Rob is a lovely bloke and obviously a talented winemaker. Called upon as a Show Judge around Australia.

Very pale in colour. Lime aromas. On palate lime juice with high natural acidity. Finishes Dry. Probably drinking this a little young. First of a dozen - next in 2 years. Has the structure for a long life. 11.8% Alc.

Lovely floral perfumed nose. Not bone dry with some flesh. Very tasty with a little spritzig.

A good wine revisit, think I prefer the Skywalk but for a young one - this is good.

Might be Australia single most underrated white wine. Delicious

Maybe trying it too young but very high acidity, like sucking on a slice of lemon. Soapy notes and gasoline on the nose, reminds me of a car wash at a gas station
