This isn't "bad" per se, but it manages to fulfill most of my personal prejudices against new world styled wine. Too much California and not enough Italy. Darker color. Big black cherry, darker juicy berries, firm tannic finish but utterly lacking in rustic distinction. Super tuscans are like prose poems....Two opposite mediums that when you conflate, there's a responsibility to equally represent both styles. Same idea with super tuscans conflating the positive attributes of California and Italy. This wine so severely expresses California it forgets Gabbiano's vivid Italian history.

I'll play devils advocate. Yes, for a Super Tuscan, it's too California, too oaked, too fruit bomb, too hot, too eager to please, too engineered to impress the co-workers or in-laws, but... but... but... put this beside a La Sughere or similar critical darling, and think of it more as a, say, Justin Isoceles that learned Italian and looks great in a tailored Neopolitan jacket, and it's easier to grow to love its charms.
