Castell d'Encus
Thalarn Costers del Segre Syrah Blend
Really digging this, a blend of traditional and modern technique coming together nicely. It carries a certain soulfulness to it while having polish and structure as well. There’s an edge to its power from its calcareous and high elevation origin. Upfront with mulberry and hints of blue plum followed by dried beef, sanguine, cloves, woodsmoke, hot stones, musky flowers and pepper. Palate moves quickly from round juicy Syrah to woolly and mineral tannin, finish shows the new oak the most to me, yet there a decidedly savory varietal notes that lingers about. Stoked on this first experience with D’Encus been eyeing these wines for a while.
