Wow. Probably the best skinsy I’ve had in a while. Cascina Lieto managed to deliver an orange wine with all the expected aromatic complexity and structure, without extracting too much bitter phenolics and sacrificing freshness. Made from old vine (30-50 years old) Moscato and Cortesa (60:40), it had beautiful aromas of rose water, orange peels, apricots, and herbs; and a pretty intense yet fresh palate that was pleasantly saline and spicy, with an interesting pomegranate/cranberry-like note in the back end. The finish still had a touch of bitterness which was somewhat moreish. Not the longest, but it did linger with some herbaceous character. Just so delicious.
