According to label, “ Quad and blond ales aged in bourbon and wine barrels with orange peel and coriander”, 11.6% alc/vol, part of their Northwest Sour Series. Aged two years. Brown orange in color, slightly hazy, good pinpoint fizz on opening. Light orange and coriander aromas. Solidly tart, with orange, pine-spice-white pepper flavors with a wine-flavored finish (cherry, berry, maybe pinot noir in those barrels originally?) A nice quaffable beer for the cool seasons, worth some slow sipping over good conversation. A gift from my brother in Oregon. Worth seeking out. Recommended serving temp is 40 degrees F but if you let it warm, woody flavors and some astringency become apparent. But drink it as you like; these people create their own style ales so no rules, really… just stick to drinking it your way

Vlad the imp aler. Choice of a rainy Halloween afternoon. I wish I remembered what year it went into our cellar.

Oranges, lemon peel, biscuit, oak, canned pineapple. Medium acidity. Taste is more of the preserved tropical fruit, but also barrel influence with brown sugar and vanilla. Alcohol comes through in bitter finish. Overall, great aroma but a tad hot on the palate.
