Garnet red, very good clarity, moderate to high pigment extraction. Luscious red fruit initially with a touch of black fruit on the finish. Light acid, good body, not too alcoholic. After 30 minutes caramel with a touch of eucalyptus and cola emerge while cherry recedes and blackberry undercurrent remains. 24 hours later, fruit flavors integrate with barrel flavors: cranberry, caramel, cherry and eucalyptus cough syrup. Nice complexity but decant to get there, requires patience. Moderate skin astringency on finish may lose some people but it adds to the complexity favorably for me.

Sweet herbs, tobacco and black olive give way to mentholated blackberry as the 2022 Primitivo Porcospino opens in the glass. Creamy and round, with balancing acidity and depths of ripe dark fruit, the 2022 finishes long and pleasantly chewy with a bitter twang and tart wild berry thrust. $25.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous March 2024)

Delicious fruit, lighter body with high acidity. Drank with pizza and sushi and paired nicely.

Subtly sweet (think prunes) and spicy. Needs some air time (still young), but it sure tastes good once it opens a little. What I like most is a cherry and tobacco sense that keeps lingering long after you swallow. This is yum!
