Casa Lapostolle
Clos Apalta Limited Release Carménère Blend
A Southern 🌍🌏🌎 Hemisphere wine theme for a small dinner with a dear friend. Some older bottles from our cellar and some younger bottles from another cellar. Paired this evening with Asian-style braised beef short ribs (Kinderhook Farm; Valatie, NY) and grilled polenta.
Notes possibly...Scores honestly.

Checking in of this bottle...
Carmenere/Cabernet/Merlot tannins are vanished, but the wine still needs more time to integrate, medium amount of sediment when decanting, will go another 5-8 years without concern.

Apr 8th, 2017Powerful! Finally opening up! I’ve been trying this over the years and always been somewhat disappointed. It’s seems to have come to it’s potential.

Jul 5th, 20182002. Blend of Carménère, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.9% ABV and it shows! A lot of oak on the nose at first opening. After more than an hour open, this mellowed but was still very present. Deep, brick red color with a fine sediment. Palate full of smoke, tobacco, leather and black and red fruits (plum / prune, black cherries. Definitely Chilean on the nose, but with a noticeable international style that one would expect from Chile in 2002.
