Deep, glass-clinging red purple in the glass; bear black with dark magenta highlights in a drinking pour. Big, bosomy nose of cobblered blueberries and blackstrap molasses. Brooding yet fruit-forward palate and greying dark berries and some ash supported by medium, velvety tannins. This is a treat. Not too serious, but not frivolous at all. Enjoy on its own or with charred barbecue meats by 2017.
