Nothing to add much to my notes of 67 weeks ago except to say it is not showing as much oak now as it was then. Black pepper notes. As written before I feel Margaret River is best suited to Cabernet but if you are going to grow Shiraz it needs to be in the south where Cape Mentelle and Voyager are situated. Not so much in Wilyabrup in the north of Margaret River. Tasted the last bottle 50 weeks later on 27th August 2022 with similar notes - black pepper and black cherry notes. Probably one of the better Shiraz from Margaret River.

Deep crimson in colour. Noticeable oak and spice on nose. Medium to full bodied. Red and black fruits on palate- plum and blueberry notes sadly dominated by the Oak. As mentioned in other posts I believe Margaret River is much better suited to Cabernet and blends rather than Shiraz - no better exemplified than the 2 offerings from this well performed winery - Cape Mentelle. Tasted again 19 weeks later. Similar sentiments as above but this time more Northern Rhone in style with black pepper, plum and dried meats. Pretty good actually. Will drink remaining 2 bottles over the next 3 to 4 years. Score 2nd time is 93 points.

Gorgeous wind from a great vintage. Extremely well balanced and focused. Beautiful natural tannins and fruit harmony. One of this years greats.
