Nothing like a nice Sav Blanc on warm days like this.
I'd gotten used to the gentle woody tones and mixed sweet succulent bouquets carried by many of the Sauvignon Blancs of the Pacific Northwest. In stark contrast is this Italian masterpiece: subtly sweet nose, with the faintest swirl of peach and pear, like a silent ballet before the solid, crisp acidity of the body dips and spreads itself across the tongue. Delightful.
The winery - Alto Adige - is known not only for its drinks, but for cultivating some mighty fine asparagus as well. (Rumor has it that this wine pairs wonderfully with that veggie; I'll have to find another bottle to confirm -- this one'll be done soon;))
