Mar 4th, 2019This was my first time trying a wine from Valtellina and I am impressed. It’s Nebbiolo but so different from the wines of the Langhe. Very pale brick red, nose of dried red fruit (cherry), rose petals, earth/mushroom and some savory notes. On the palate more red fruit but still subtle, with an herbal almost medicinal vibe, searing acidity and delicate well integrated tannins. This is meant to drink young but could almost certainly age for a few years.
