Calera Wine Company
Jensen Vineyard Pinot Noir

Delicious bottle right here. Not as good as the first but still amazing juice. Beautiful decaying leaves on the nose with a southern Rhone a la Rayas palate.

Open for two days at tasting room. A bit tired but fun to taste.

Don't tell me that New World wines can't age.

Burgundian/leafy nose, dried cherries, prune, spice and slightly underripe blueberries on the palate. Surprisingly big tannin and acid at the end that cleans everything up. Had that classic Mt. Harlan limestone freshness. Love CALERA. 1996 vintage.

Best bottle I've had this year. Still very much alive though better on the nose than the palette. Retains still quite a bit of fruit.

Dust and spice on the nose, fresh red fruit throughout, cranberries, acid still prominent and even a bit of tannin. Still has cellar time left in it. It's an amazing 1996!
