Calcagno
Arcuria Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese
Tart and vibrant red fruits with hints of large and burnt citrus like grapefruit and blood orange rind. Smoky and mineral. Herbal and green character as well, almost like the tomato/bay leaf character of Sangiovese. Very well balanced on palate.

Mar 18th, 2021On a blind tasting I might have pegged it for Barbaresco for it's cherry, dates, firm acidity, and wisp of rose on the nose and finish. Well integrated oak with extra toast. (18 mths in barriques ). But this is not Nebbiolo but a marvelous Nerello Mascalese with some minerality evoking the volcanic soil from where it sprang to life. Soft tannins too.
