Recommended to me as a good balance between fresh acidity and oaky richness. I'd agree. There's a lightness and crispness to the body reminiscent of a good Italian white, but also the creme brûlée richness you'd expect of an American oaked Chardonnay. Pear, mineral, dulce de leche on the nose, oily full but assertively acidic on the palate, with tart golden apple melting into caramelly sweet oak on the lingering mildly dry finish. Overall, this leans slightly toward the much-maligned malolactic sweetness, but if you can get over that aspect, the depth of flavor is well worth savoring, and this balanced and lively wine can be enjoyed with food just as well as by itself. I wouldn't buy every day, but it's worth the $15.
