Old Hill Ranch Ancient Field Blend

Grandes Dames tasting 2/1/23. My 2nd, group 2nd. Green olives. Hints of plum. Sherries emerge. Full mouth. Ripe black cherries. Tar. Ripe.

This is one of the best field blends I've ever had.

Amazing field blend, cannot remember a better one wish I had more.

Planted in 1849. Truly an iconic site.

Bucklin - Old Hill Ranch - Zinfandel - Sonoma Valley - 2010 - medium body / good balance- Aromas/Flavors: spices/ bell peppers. Good ratio quality/price.

One of the best field blends I have had recently

15.3% ABV Dark red color, legs, black & red fruit. Nice long finish.

Drank over 2 days. Day 1, great nose, exuberant fruit, big tannic structure. Day 2, tannins recede but still great nose and fruit. Bucklin bottles are also notably lighter than standard so environmentally good as well.

This is a wonderful wine - one of the best field blends I’ve had, really. There’s an impression of wild raspberries and boysenberries on the front end, backed by a layer of mildly peppery spice, and presented in a medium-bodied frame. The tannins are mostly resolved and the finish is clean and just a touch sweet. This was ready to go with minimal air.

This is only my second or third Bucklin and I’m becoming a big fan.
