Brotte
Marandy St. Joseph Syrah

Blue violet. Almost comes off with a bubbly sensation of champagne. Light fresh shoe smell. Almost plum-like start, quickly followed by dark cherry or blackberry notes. Finishes with a leathery tone. Definitely a fruit forward wine, yet the fruit doesn't overpower. Subtle darker notes of toast and pepper balance the fruit. Very good indeed. Won't cut through the heavy flavor of a big cheese like a smoked Gouda and some salami, and not the best compliment flavor wise. Also, not strong enough for spicy bold dishes like chili.
