Peppery, somewhat tawny appearance, smooth finish, can be sipped with or without food

Raspberries and dark chocolate on the back of the tongue. Could be some plums and cedar as well. A good Virginia Nebbiolo.

Pretty good, but a bit too much oak. Has potential, but the fruit is overshadowed... 2006.

This wine left me stumped when tasted blind. Initially smelled like a S Rhone with all that hot, dark earth and herby licorice, but then a palate of strawberries with the fine and grippy tannins of an Italian wine but none of the acidity or sour cherries! Smells old world but doesn't taste like it. Guessed Cali Sangiovese at one point. Well made, but overpriced and alc sticks out.
