Brave & Maiden Estate
Santa Ynez Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Wood needs some integration, but very tasty brown sugar and vanilla, savory sweet fruit, more medium bodied and less tannic cab

May 8th, 2016Not my usual style of cab, but for a Santa Ynez cab it’s nicely balanced and not too big and ripe.

Mar 28th, 2021Impenetrably dark red with hints of purple showing throughout. This is indeed one of those big and bold California Cabs but done right. Smoke and spice dominate the nose with oak and smoked tobacco providing backup. Blueberries and tart cherries are all over this.
A sturdy and almost flamboyant Cab, this baby is thick and lush. Never strays too much into flabby territory, instead choosing restraint and refinement. Intense upon entry, the palate shows dark chocolate and blue fruits. Licorice, dried cherries, oak, and more spice compliment. Smoked tobacco and vanilla on the longish finish. A really nice fun Cab from the Santa Ynez Valley.

Tried this at a recent tour and tasting last weekend. Still very young vintage but already very tasty and structured tannins. Bold black fruit with all spice, vanilla, and peppery notes.
