This is the last bottle in a long line of bottles I purchased at super discount from a local store. At $5 a pop I slowly (and then more quickly) bought every bottle they had - probably a couple of cases in all. At first we drank them fast, and then slower, until this last bottle remained - and then I couldn't bear to finish it off. Until today, the last day of 2016. Now this is no fine bottle of champagne, but it's still a damn fine set of bubbles (at pennies on the dollar). The nose tickles with yeasty dough, cranberries, strawberries, lemon and lime, as well as wet rock and a hint of mint. The palette is delightfully dry and an array of tart berries, grapefruit, mandarin oranges and a decent streak of earth. Really good stuff.
