B.R. Cohn
Silver Label North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Fruity on the nose with blueberries, vanilla, wood, bonfire smoke, cherries, red candy, light earth, cloves, chocolates, spices, coffee, pencil lead and black pepper.
Full-bodied, smooth and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with black currants, black plums, sour cherries, raspberries, vanilla, oak, coffee, spices, cloves, earth, leather, chocolates, burned wood and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.
This Californian Cabernet from the North Coast is drinking nicely now, but would be better in a few years. Not fully balanced yet, with mild complexity and a nice soft, buttery mouthfeel.
Needs an hour to open up. Good for parties, good by itself and better with food.
I paired it with barbecue steak.
Aged in French oak barrels.
14.1% alcohol by volume.
$18.

You must aerate this wine! Smooth mild black cherry up front with a velvet finish. Amazing change with aeration- smoother long
finish.

Gorgeous legs! Cherry and currant and lucious dark fruit on the nose. Smooth taste with a hint of spice, an easy finish. Good!!

Strong nose (and a little tight) of vanilla, licorice, bell pepper, smoke, blackberries, cherries, vegetables, earth, tar, forest floor, peppercorn, oak, licorice, spices and cola.
Medium bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, peppercorn, leather, smoke, chocolates, green herbs and spices.
Medium plus on the finish with green tannins and peppercorn.
An above average Cabernet Sauvignon from the North Coast of California. Smooth and complex, but still young and unbalanced.
A little harsh right out of the bottle, and better after an hour in a decanter.
Needs 3 to 5 years in the bottle to mature.

I really like this. I had this vintage about a year ago and it was flabby, fruity nothingness. But somehow it's totally transformed. Dark, jammy fruit on the nose. On the palate, pleasant and surprising acidity, especially for a cab. Well integrated oak. Oily eucalyptus. Dry, popping chalky character in whirlwind with black raspberry and dark strawberry preserves. Balanced spice in mid palate. Smooth tannins. A wine with a fairly complete vision. Elegant but so much presence.

Apr 12th, 2017Light ruby in color with light intensity. A Nice color.
Fruity nose of raspberries, sour cherries, blueberries, wood, metals, milk chocolate, mocha, mild roasted coffee, eucalyptus, licorice, light vanilla, alcohol and peppercorn.
Medium-bodied with high acidity and long legs.
Sour on the palate, and dry, with blueberries, raspberries, pomegranates, earth, oak, sage, licorice, light vanilla, dark chocolates, coffee, spices and lots of peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with medium tannins and tart cherries.
This North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon is still very young and unbalanced. Needs a couple of hours to open up, and will be better in 2 to 5 years time.
Some heat at the back of the throat and a light mouthfeel that I did not see coming.
A little disappointing, but I hope it is only a matter of aging.
I Paired it with a burger and fries.

Needs oxygen to open. Nose nearly closed. Bright ruby and very young looking, very grapey and young on the palate. Slightly displeasing vegetal notes on nose and palate, somewhere between green olive and Bell pepper. Sweet blue/black fruit with cassis highlights, medium plus tannin, persistent sweet-tart finish, awkward and disjointed.

Apr 1st, 2015B.R. Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon Silver Label North Coast 2009: Medium-body. Integrated tannins. Rich full flavors. Dark fruits. Strawberry. Plum. Cassis. Vanilla. Oak. Smooth dry finish. All in all, this was a lighter style Cabernet (than I am accustomed to) however it was just right! This wine can be paired well with a wide range of cuisines due to is softer, non-overpowering flavor profile. For me, it was a grilled steak & some nice leafy greens! Bottom line: High quality & great value! Great weekend to all! Cheers🍷
