Went to a family Italian restaurant for the best meatball anywhere. The wine selection is limited and mostly supermarket type selections, and too young. When asked, the owner (in his 70’s) showed me this 2011 bottle with a proud smile as if this was pulled out from his secret cellar. Who could resist?
Rich, earthy, and herbal with a rustic touch. Nice mix of dark plum and red cherry. Acidity has been rounded and tannins mellowed. Lingering sweet herbal finish. Paired great with the meat ball. Satisfying!
