Bolt to Wines Ballard Canyon Syrah 2017, California

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

On the nose, blackberry jam, sweet cherries, raisins, wood, spices, chocolates, tobacco, graphite, dark coffee, light earth and peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black plums, black currants, coffee, oak, spices, earth, light vegetables, tobacco, herbs, tar, vegetables and peppercorn.

Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a very nice Syrah from California. Bold and extracted, yet soft on the finish. Spicy and tangy.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle too.

Might be a good idea to wait a few more years with this one.

I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

15% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$40.
