Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose of black plums, black currants, coffee, oak, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates and black pepper.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, earth, oak, spices, licorice, peppercorn, coffee, chocolates, tobacco and light vegetables.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice Merlot from California. Easy drinking with a nice mouthfeel.

Showing mild complexity, rich and extracted. Plush and tangy. A good everyday wine.

Good right out of the bottle and better with some air time (30 minutes).

I had it all by itself by the lake.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$8.

This normally excellent-for-the-price Merlot has hit a vintage slump. It is as if the winemakers identified everything people love about this wine and turned everything up to 11. It is big and thick, like chewing through a loaf of stale bread. It has the acidic sweet jamminess of a Lodi Zinfandel circa 2003. While still only 13.5% alcohol, it still leaves the palate feeling dry and slightly sticky.

A nice merlot, not as robust/flavorful as my favorites - great price!

Medium purple in color; ripe blackberries, plums, and vanilla the nose; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; tastes like black cherries, blackberries, and clay pots with a long finish.  A hint of violets too, I think.  Really good for the price. Nellie likes it. Leo doesn't like it.
