The name "Boekenhoutskloof" pronounced, bok-un-hoatscloof comes fom the Cape beech, or Kaapse boekenhout, a tree indigenous to Franschhoek and once used by the Cape Dutch for furniture making. Deep red with fruit and spicy nose. Blackberry and blueberry flavors with sweet pepper spice with surprisingly soft tannins. Lingering with oak and spice ending. Nice value for this interesting wine.

May 29th, 2017This has the soft creaminess that I would expect from a blend of Viognier and Chenin Blanc, with tastes of pineapple, mango, cream, and lime. Quite appealing, and goes well with mild curries.
