Big! But not too big. Really great blend, the Syrah is really fantastic. Great mouth feel and dark red fruit. The finish Keeps on going. Drank a nice Cab blend after this, and it seemed light.

(***) raspberry preserves with cocoa and oak; big, well-rounded tannins; paired well with pork lasagna

One of my favorite South African blends. Complex with a smooth finish. This wine always delivers.

A complex and layered red that goes down smooth. This full body is a permanent part of my collection. Enjoy

Always impressed with this wine especially on price point. Drinks like it should cost double its actual price

So tonight we had roast beef so thought we would have something to match. I grabbed the 2011 Chocolate Block, an interesting mix of Syrah, Grenache, Cab Sauv, Cinsault and Viognier. This vintage features significant flavor and structure, though is definitely too young at this point. Chocolate and berry flavors. Decent finish, tannins definitely present.
