Valbuena vertical tasting, No 3 St James's, 14 June 2016.
Deep red with some evolution. Developing. Powerful, spicy with leafy notes. Fresh, full and opulent. Lovely richness. Spicy finish. Wood still in the background.
Fresh bouquet. Mint, strawberry fruit. Elegant. Fresh on the palate. Tight. Coarser tannins but well tamed. Short, spicy finish.
Healthy. Leather. More forward than its two predecessors. The palate is tight, tannins still angular. Needs to come together.
Comported fruit. Figg. Quite simple. The palate is elegant and approachable. Ripe tannins. Might not be for the long haul.
Fresh and intense crushed black fruit. Leafy too. Complete on the palate combining extra t, scale and depth of flavour. Abundant tannins and refreshing acidity to ensure long term potential.
Ripe and rich. Some scale but lacks acidity lift.
