Bodegas y Viñedos El Sequé
Alicante Mourvedre Blend

For 45 retail you gotta be kidding me. This wine would be acceptable at half hat price but all in all it is uninteresting modernly styled wine that lacks any varietal or geographical typicity

Nov 16th, 2015Weird. That was my first thought upon smelling this wine. Now weird doesn't mean bad, at least not with me. I'm always looking for new experiences in the wine world so something weird usually equates to something I haven't experienced before. And in this case I hadn't experienced it before: Monastrell (85% of it, with 15% Syrah). Stewed, slightly overripe red fruit on the nose, with a bit of black pepper. Similar fruit on the palette, with a bit of mushroomy forest floor at the end. Oddly, the finish evokes a bit of sweetness reminding me of cookie dough. This one doesn't quite add up for me.
