Creme de myrtille, tomato leaf, pipe tobacco, vanilla and spices mix it up on the nose.
Medium-full body, sweet entry, savoury palate, tannins fully subsumed into the wine. Acid and alcohol levels both quite intense in the mouth. Autumnal mulch, licorice and dried cranberry flavours that seems to disapate quickly in the finish.
Interesting, well made wine that just misses the exceptional rating due to the peppery alcohol level (14.5%) being too prominent.
This was my last bottle of 6 purchased in 2005. This vintage has always been better than the 2004 version.

Funky nose. Earth, wet autumn leaves, moss with hints of cherries and fruits underneath that developed after a while. Fuller taste. Lots of fresh red berries, plums. Smooth finish. Tannins are firm but less harsh in the mouth than the 1995.

Dark rich color. Refined nose. Vanilla, under currents of red berries, some earth. Tasting notes of red berries and fruits. Lovely tannins that are well balanced. Long finish. Hint of pepper.

Old and delicious. Perfect with paella. A little earthy, but well balanced.

This 18 year young bottle was still youthful, fruit forward very balanced and integrated with softened tannin. Held up perfect for a modest celebration and anniversary. Keeping another 1998, a La Rioja Alta 904 Gran Reserva hopefully for a bigger occasion.

Took a while to open. A big, spicy wine. Dark fruit, earth, velvet tannin. Very good.
