Altos de la Hoya Finca Hoya de Santa Ana Jumilla Monastrell

Reminds me of when I was a kid and would shove the entire contents of a mini box of sun maid raisins into my mouth at once. This is like that, not only in flavor but also in texture. #sunmaid

Dark and opaque in the glass. Deep purple with dull, water sheen on surface. Rim has a minutely brown hue.

Aromas are hints of table Pepper, subtle cinnamon, black berry and baked flour (fried tortilla)

It's smooth and long finishing. Plums and wild black berries, to the bitter seed. A little raisiny. Somewhat overripe component. Not a lot of acidity, so the flavor comes a little quicker. A good bottle. Probably had more life when first released. Opened 10/16/15

The $12 wonder.

Another silent auction wine basket win (I seem to have a very specific talent at winning these lol) and it’s…good. I’d buy it again. First taste is dried fruits, a little peppery, dry, a little alcoholy but will probably mellow and open up. UPDATE : Great with dark chocolate!

It's like sticking your face in a violet. Great oak integration. This wine is a baby, tight at first but with enough time it shows tobacco, smoke, cedar, dried black berries. Bright acidity and loves food.

This wine over delivered for the price point ($15) wonderful black and purple floral notes. Outstanding oak integration and as it opens up lush tannins and ripe blue and black fruit

Dry, smoky, and very drinkable. Pretty much a perfect every day wine.

All raisins and smooth tartness. Fun by itself or with flatbread pizza (how we enjoyed for the first time). Definitely buying again. #pizzawine

Smooth and has a nice finish. Great find!

Blackberry and dried herbs on the nose. Lots of big tannins. Slight hints of soil and tobacco. Keeps getting better as it opens up. Should have decanted earlier!
