Quaffable and well-made yet a bit rustic Gran Reserva of Valdepeñas (DO) by Bodegas Fernando Castro. 100%Tempranillo, aged 2yrs in oak and 3 yrs in bottle.

Dark cherry red, brownish red rim.
Medium intensity nose of ripe black cherry, baked prune, roasted coffee beans, mushrooms, vanilla, blackberry, peppermint.
Juicy and quite plain medium+ bodied palate. Coarse tannins but accurate acidity. Cherry, black currant, strawberry, blackthorn.
Medium-minus finish, accenting lingonberry, ashberry and wild cherry.
Paired ok my homemade lasagna.
