Color of shades of purple with grapefruit note and touch of ruby. Nose of cherry and oak, spice, vanilla, ice wine lie sweetness, a bit tobacco leaves, and strength of alcohol. Nose is plenty. Taste of nice oaky flavors, solid acidity like balsamic vinegar, good tannins, subtle sweetness in the background, black pepper, ripe cherry and strawberry. Powerful yet not aggressive. Also shows a bit mineral at the end. Aftertaste of some juicy grapes, peppery, quite long. Only tiny bit of metallic rusty note at the very end. But overall, a very good Rioja.

Black plum with the tartness balanced with some fuzzy tannin mouthfeel. Sweetness throughout. Not a great deal of wood evident. Not exactly prototypical Rioja, a bit simple, but tasty with a bit to chew on.
