For my 3000th review on Vivino, here's a wonderful Spanish red.

Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.

A wonderful nose of blackberries, cooked plums, sweet cherries, black currants, oak, licorice, vanilla, spices, cedar, cinnamon, chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, tobacco, mocha, coke, earth and pencil lead.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, figs, raisins, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cloves, herbs, peppercorn, pencil lead and earth.

Long finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a wonderful Spanish gem. Well balanced with great complexity and a great chewy mouthfeel. Still shows a little alcohol on the finish, which will disappear in a few years.

Needed time to open up properly, and I used my VSpin for 15 minutes to open it up.

Drinking very nicely now, but will be better in a few years. A Delicious wine.

Grapes are grown on rocky slate soils and hand picked. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.

16% alcohol by volume.

95 points.

$40.

Modern industrial wine but well-made. Good fruit concentration and good oak. Not too overripe and overdone. Not old-viney, the structure is simple and shallow.
