We elected to open up one of our purchases from Mendoza. This wine is from Lujan de Cuyo and comprised of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 70% Malbec. It also has a high alcohol content of 15.1%. It took just over 2 hours to fully open up, and the flavours continued to express themselves as the evening progressed. In regards to taste, it’s a big bold dark fruit ensemble, comprising of dark succulent cherries, blackberries, cassis, and plums. It’s not jammy or syrup like. It’s velvety against the tongue and elegantly balanced. The fruit flavours are followed by vanilla, subtle herbaceous notes and fine dark chocolate. The flavours amalgamate providing a layered and royal finish. Exquisite. Served with lamb shank and orzo pasta.
