Bodega Marañones
Treintamil Maravedies Garnacha Syrah
A wonderful introduction to the Garnachas of the Sierra de Gredos region in Madrid, Spain. A unique and perhaps one of most expressive versions of this well travelled variety. Fresh but ripe strawberries, raspberry cola and lavender is followed by a very defined stem-like spicyness and a crushed stoney minerality. A piercing freshness and plenty of energy drives the palate, gripping but fine grained tannis and a solid finish. This entry level wine from Maronones is a true bargain

Oct 24th, 2020Well balanced traditional style of winemaking. Light to medium ruby, medium intensity on nose and palate, earth, herbs. slight hint of oak with a touch of heat on the finish.

Jul 13th, 2014Another side of the great, delicate beauty that old vine Garnacha from the Sierra de Gredos is capable of. Lively garnet hue translates to the red fruited, floral appeal, while the finish is all sandy, salty and gamey. A touch of Syrah brings pepper and more edge to the tannins and acidity. 🔥🍓🐚🐏

Oct 9th, 2018Very light aroma, a little watery with a flowering aftertaste. Refreshing but not sweet and not bold. Very different to what I normally like. Flower tones really linger!

Smooth red beeries with a little winesourness one the nose but also milk cochlate that you drink. After a while the nose turns a bit shy. At first light and red fruit but suddenly the small but strong tannins strikes and the taste turns drier and darksour. No trace of the high alcohol because the wine is compact and nice. Had it with creamy cheesy food which worked great since the dryness and tannins falls in love with the fat and easy it up.
