Ermitage Villány Red Blend
Trying this for the second time. Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Earthy nose with cherries, blueberries, earth wood, forest floor, wet leaves, black tea, dark chocolates, black pepper and light vinaigrette.
Medium-plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry and earthy on the palate with red currants, oak, tobacco, cherries, bitter herbs, bell pepper, forest floor, vegetables, black tea, peppercorn, leather, earth and graphite.
This time I let it open up for 5 hours. Tastes very much like an aged Southern Rhône blend. Earthy and spicy with vegetable notes.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
87 Points.

A friend brought over an interesting red blend from Hungary. Probably my first Hungarian red.
Ruby /brownish in color with a wide brick rim.
Nose of blueberries, cherries, strawberries, wood, licorice, vanilla, earth, wet leaves, peppercorn, vegetables, green herbs, tobacco leaf and black tea.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Dry and tangy on the mid palate, with cherries, strawberries, cranberries, oak, licorice, wet leaves, herbs vegetables, bell pepper, spices, forest floor, black tea and earth.
Short and spicy finish with soft tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This is an interesting red blend from Hungary. Reminds me of a light Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
A good food wine. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
Needs 30 minutes to open up properly, and became tart after 2 hours of airtime.
A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, Gamay and Syrah. Aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
88 points.

Hungarian jewel - it's short description of this wine. Slight berry taste and aroma, not too harsh or not too dry - perfect on its own - but best enjoyed in the beginning of evening ;)
