Black Estate
Netherwood Chardonnay
This is the Netherwood Pinot. About $60 a bottle and their top cuvée. Lighter than I expected from a Canterbury Pinot. 100% Whole bunch has something to do with that I feel.

Jan 31st, 2017Blind. Reminded me of Waipara Chard, but seemed to neutral on the fruit side, flavor being driven more by lees/old barrel characters. I should have gone with my gut but I called it a Pinot Blanc.
Really short élevage on this guy. Longer in barrel would have maybe helped it express variety more. Still I really enjoyed it. It is full of nuance and subtleties.
