Betz Family Winery
Clos de Betz Columbia Valley Red Blend
Clos de Betz Columbia Valley Red 2012 is a sumptuous Bordeaux-style blend of 67% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. As with all Betz wines, it's precise and steeped in power. Arresting aromas of plums, kirsch, Madagascar vanilla and graphite lie under a beguiling floral top note. It's concentrated, and inky, a bit of a surprise considering the percentage of Merlot in the blend. Plush, ripe tannins merge seamlessly into depth-less layers of glossy black fruit. 14.5% ABV | Sample

Mar 6th, 2015Bottled 5 weeks ago and is a blend of 2/3 merlot Cabernet Sauvignon and then petite Verdot they start the blending process in the vineyard all of which have a waiting list. Discovery vineyard is a new part of the blend. They have gone back to walla walla with this vineyard and some Syrah from n the rocks (not in this wine). A big bouquet of dark cherry and plum fruit with a good punt of nuance fresh herbs cedar and tobacco spice lively complexity on the nose. A very plush and smooth wine on the palate with a firm hand of acidity and all that nuance from the nose coming through the finish very long and layered this wine is very well built needs time but is very enjoyable right now. Pretty floral notes and a nice zest to the finish. Finish 50+. Most excellent +
