Old Vines Pinot Meunier
This wine is somewhat of a unicorn being made from vines planted in 1868 believed to be the oldest Pinot Meunière vines still being used to make wine in the world. I decanted this wine but probably no need as there was zero sediment. Colour was a transparent light Ruby red. A palate of bright red cherries with a toffee note. Light to medium weight palate. Not as complex as an older example I once tried which was stunning and different. This has a long life ahead of it. This is the first of 3 and not ready yet.

Apr 21st, 2023Some of the oldest Pinot vines in the world and it really shows. Deep, dark and brooding, dusty, intense and funky. Pinot (noir) notes but a much more savoury feel. Very bloody interesting.
