Intense dark fruit and a creamy mousse on the nose, with a tart, impertinent black cherry on the palate. Bone dry. A bit too tart to be balanced. Oddly enough, the pairing with lamb wasn't ideal, but the combination of the wine with dark chocolate espresso beans was remarkable.

Again, a fairly jammy syrah, but still charming; clear black pepper and bacon fat. Soft finish, with attenuated tannin.

Day 2: soup.

Deep, fully opaque purple in the glass. Blueberry, crispy bacon, and espresso are evident on the nose as well as hints of vanilla and black pepper. It's plush and juicy on the palate with blue and black fruit notes and alcohol that is somewhat prominent initially at 14.4% but fades with air. Made from 100% Syrah sourced from a variety of Walla Walla area vineyards with 87% from the Wahluke Slope AVA aged 14 months in 27% new oak that's a mixture of French, American, and Hungarian. $25.

A little too tart and not smokey enough for my taste. We'll see if it opens up after ten minutes more.

Recommended at Terrapin and small markup! Bit dry but nice dark fruit and lovely with filet mignon

One of my favorites! Excellent balance of mineral and dark fruit. And the price is affordable for everyday drinking.
