Open from the get-go. Rich and powerful, yet still had precision and mineral drive. Aromas of ripe lemons, green apples, cream, spices, and hazelnuts, as well as hints of chalkiness which seemed to grow with air. The palate was weighty and even creamy in texture at times. Good acidity although I wouldn’t say it was razor sharp. For me, the persistent chalky, saline backend was what really brought the wine finesse. Excellent for the vintage, which was proven by an empty bottle at the end of dinner, though that may have been assisted by the awesome matching with the deep-fried pork hock dish.
