What a wonderful surprise it is to open up the wine cellar and find a bottle of something I forgot about. this is Benziger Estate 2017 Oonapais !!!! Wow. Stored at 52 degrees, warmed and decanted for 15 min. -I could not wait any longer… as the wine warms slightly to 63 degrees. The bouquet really opens up as this wine warms. Blackberry pie baking in the oven. The Initial palate experience is dark fruit overwhelming the experience. There is blackberry, boysenberry, and slightly ripe black plum. Then comes the earth tones of cedar and cigar box. This is quickly followed by a chocolate and spice on the long semidry finish. Absolutely no sourness absolutely no bitterness just a perfect cab blend.
