This is from the Waipara Valley in Canterbury just north of Christchurch and not to be confused with Wairarapa just north of Wellington in Martinborough. Must try more Pinots from this region. Not as full bodied as Otago being more minerally from the Gravel soils.

Big, opulent, cola, red and blue fruits smack you in the face. Alcohol and oak softens with time. Beautiful aromatics, big fruit and the oak dominates pallet with a bitterness. Hopefully oak integrates with some time. $38, why??
