Behrens & Hitchcock
Kick Ranch Petite Sirah

Consistent with my prior review - not quite the 2015, but a good bottle.

Really good, but not quite the 2015. I continue to enjoy the relatively restrained quality of this inky black petite syrah. Chocolate, balsamic and the usual dark fruit on the nose. A cake and orange note. Creamy on the palate, with a long finish.

2010 vintage poured on March 5, 2021. Dark and jammy with a spicy finish. Enjoying it with BBQ.

Really needs time to open up. A restrained, classy petite syrah - not the CA norm. The nose is tightly packed; cherry, blackberry, powdered chocolate, maybe a lemon note. Thick and smooth on the palate, with a long aftertaste.

More French Syrah in style than I would have thought. Games with wild, brambly fruit. Blood, meat, truffle, loamy earth and dark fruit. Forrest floor on the nose. It also has sucrosity and a richness as it opens.

Dec 4th, 2016Decanted for 30 min. The first thing I notice is how deeply inky the color is on this wine. Aromas of dark fruits and a slight smokiness. The palate bursts with powerful intense dark fruits with Asian spice and cocoa. So so good.
