Came across this little beauty when judging at the Toowoomba Wine Show a couple of years ago. 100% Mourvèdre. Deep dark crimson with dusty meaty aromas. Blackberry and unusually sweet on the palate. A new world Aussie take on Mourvèdre from an ultra boutique boutique winery in the Geographe district of WA. Only 394 bottles made. More sweet than the savoury examples from Bandol. Medium to full bodied.

The Geographe district of WA is proving ideal for Mediterranean varieties like Mouvedre and Graciano because of the hot dry conditions. This wine was very aromatic with hints of ginger. Young primary and fresh. A very good wine. Only 1276 bottles made.

2012 Bakkheia Mourvédre (60%) Shiraz (40%). Plummy depths, touch short. Holds well over a day - if anything improves.
