Missed THE game last night, so watching the replay tonight.
Oh, the wine. It’s a bit overextracted for my taste, especially for a Merlot where I’m looking for suave fruit and a sensuous texture. Nose has some nice fruit, but it’s a supporting role to an astringent, slightly weedy character. On the palate, it’s intense but lean and tannic. Again, somewhat out of character for the grape. Not a repeat purchase.

Current release, which is awesome. Deep tertiary bouquet of leather, anise and dried herbs. Beautiful palate of leather, prune, licorice and scorched herbs. Aged wine for a Tuesday night. Winner.

I love an herbal merlot, and this one has all kind of interesting green characters, cigar, black tea, cedar, green olive, and a nice full grainy texture
