Omg... I'm not gonna lie - I drank the whole bottle like it was Kool-Aid! It was sooooooooooooo GOOD! Big ol' ripe, black Bing cherries & blackberries... much residual sugar but such a nice finish! Definitely for sweet wine lovers only. Birbet is great as a dessert wine or with some light, fluffy, chocolate cake. It's not quite as full & deep as a Grenache-based Banyuls of course, but certainly delicious & about half the price of a Banyuls. Absolutely DEEEEEEEE-licious!

So I got caught up in the review of this wine I forgot I was searching for a Malbec. My first impressions reflected that. I find it hard to describe this in wine terms because honestly I've had fruit juices with more complexity. Be that as it may after a good chill and a second glass I grew fond of this little naturally carbonated gem. The residual sugars are really strong. If you or a friend doesn't like the body of most Reds this is a good introduction...although so is Welch's grape juice. Also at 5% this isn't a showstopper so go search for your thrills elsewhere.
