2022/12/22-24. This was an interesting but tricky bottle. It went through many phases over several days - hard, stony and a bit alcoholic, raisiny (though not sweet), lively and rich and balanced, herbal red fruit... At first I was a bit disappointed as I generally love Montigiano and Bilaccio, but I think this showed that it just might need a bit more time to settle down, and could be pretty great when it does.

2022/4. This feels more immediately in character for Il Borghetto versus the 2016 Montedesassi. The fruit is more transparent, higher toned. There’s still a bit of wonkiness to work through (the wine is still quite young), but very drinkable and likeable, with depth to chew on.
